At Waco Civic Theatre, we believe every child deserves access to the transformative power of live performance.

That’s why we’re proud to offer a professional touring company that brings high-quality theatre directly into local schools—completely free of charge.

With a special focus on underserved communities, our touring productions reach students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience live theatre. For many, it’s a first encounter with the arts—and a chance to see beyond the limits of their everyday world. Theatre helps children imagine new possibilities, empathize with others, and connect with stories that expand their understanding of life and culture.

Live performance also supports literacy and language development, introducing students to rich vocabulary, narrative structure, and expressive communication in a dynamic and memorable way. When kids see stories come to life on stage, reading and learning become more engaging—and more meaningful.

By removing financial and logistical barriers, we aim to inspire the next generation of thinkers, dreamers, and readers—right where they are.

“The Hobbit”

WCT is thrilled to launch its very first professional summer tour with a theatrical journey unlike any other—The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien! This epic adventure follows Bilbo Baggins as he leaves the comfort of the Shire and faces dragons, dwarves, and unexpected heroism in a tale that has enchanted readers for generations. Now brought to life on stage, this imaginative production is coming to Waco—don’t miss your chance to experience the magic, courage, and wonder of Middle-earth like never before!
