Sept 21st - Oct 1st

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, setting the standards and rules of modern musical theatre. In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story. Their romantic journey, as bumpy as a Surrey ride down a country road, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie and hapless Will Parker in a musical adventure embracing hope, determination and the promise of a new land.

Music By: Music by RICHARD RODGERS

Composer: Based on the play "Green Grow the Lilacs" by Lynn Riggs

Lyrics by: Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II

Original Choreography by Agnes de Mille

OKLAHOMA! is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization.

Although Piers “crossed the pond” fifty-nine years ago, he doubts that his accent has quite reached Texas yet, let alone Oklahoma. Happily retired, Piers and his wife Alethea are the proud parents of Giles Bateman and Laura Bateman Indergard, a former president of the WCT board of directors, and fond grandparents of Brooks (Les Miserables et al), Juliet (co-Laurey in Oklahoma!, et al) and Arabella (title role in Annie, Jr., et al). In retirement, Piers now serves on the WCT board and has appeared in several WCT productions, including The Addams Family, Sister Act, Shakespeare In Love, Wizard of Oz, Baskerville, Emma, and Mamma Mia. He is grateful to his brilliant fellow Oklahoma!-ans for their friendly tolerance of his aged Limey-ness.

Raina is new to WCT, but is more than excited to be diving back into theatre, a life long passion of her’s. She hopes you enjoy this timeless story of fantasy and family.

Bethany is thrilled to be acting in her first show with the civic theater. She has been a frequent WCT audience member for years and is excited to have the opportunity to join with the others on the stage. Bethany was in several musical productions in her time in high school and at Baylor University. She is also an elementary music teacher and middle school choir director, so singing is an important part of her life. Having the chance to sing and perform on stage again has been such a joy!

This is Robin’s first show with WCT. Her love for performing started as a child, singing “Little Mermaid” for her family. Robin is thrilled to be back doing what she loves with WCT.

Linda is delighted to participate in her first WCT production! Seemingly born without stage fright, she has been singing in church choirs since age 11 and is a teacher, private tutor, seminar speaker, corporate trainer, and freelance proofreader/editor. Linda’s outside activities include Waco Bicycle Club, camping, gardening, art, and gingerbread house design/construction.

Courtney is surprised but happy to find herself in this production of Oklahoma as the extent of her stage career does not extend past a karaoke bar! She spends her days homeschooling her four precious children, but when given the time, you will find her reading and drinking coffee on repeat. She is grateful to Waco Civic for taking a chance on her since singing and dancing is so fun—now she’ll see if it’s fun outside of her own living room!

Diamond is very thrilled to be doing their first show at WCT. Hailing from Nacogdoches, TX, they started acting in 2017 in Waco with the Jubilee Theatre, then began to appear in many productions with Wild Imaginings. When not performing or rehearsing they enjoy playing videogames with their partner or baking in the kitchen.

Karen is thrilled to be back on the WCT stage. She’s excited to perform in a beloved classic and to get to dust off her tap shoes. She was last seen in WCT’s recent production of Oklahoma. She would like to thank Melissa, Joy and Megan for this opportunity.
